Back at HOMEDEC KLCC: What Was New This Time

Our first HOMEDEC exhibition in April 2026 focused on introducing our approach to custom cabinetry. You can read the recap in our HOMEDEC APR 2026 article.

For October, we wanted visitors to see what had changed in six months. Three updates stood out: a stricter material standard, a bolder kitchen design, and a wardrobe display that did not exist at our last booth.

Here is how our two HOMEDEC appearances compare:

  • Kitchen display: a complete kitchen with an island, curved details and a lifting table in April, and a red kitchen with a sintered stone countertop and two-tone Top Mix cabinetry in October.
  • Material focus: Super E0 and F4 Stars options were introduced in April, while October featured a full rack at E0 grade and above, with SE0, ENF and the new wood veneer.
  • Wardrobe display: not showcased in April, and a new open concept wardrobe in October.
  • Hardware highlight: April highlighted our ability to create custom designs such as pocket doors, while October put our hardware in the spotlight with BLUM lift-up and drawer systems.

A Material Rack Where Every Board Is E0 or Above

Cabinetry covers a large surface area in a home, so the board behind the finish matters. This year we built our material rack around one rule: only E0 grade and above.

The rack displayed five material categories.

  • MFP: melamine-faced plywood [confirm full name], commonly used for carcasses and cabinets that benefit from plywood strength.
  • MFC: melamine-faced chipboard, commonly used for cabinet carcasses, shelves and general storage.
  • Wood veneer: a thin layer of natural wood on a board core, commonly used for doors and feature panels with a natural grain look.
  • AHP: aluminium honeycomb panel [confirm full name], commonly used for lightweight doors and panels.
  • Stone: natural and sintered stone surfaces, commonly used for countertops, islands and feature surfaces.

Understanding E0, SE0 and ENF

Formaldehyde emission grades tell homeowners how much formaldehyde a board is allowed to release. A lower grade means lower emissions.

The table below shows the grading tiers under China’s voluntary standard GB/T 39600-2021, which defines E1, E0 and ENF using the same chamber test.

  • E1: 0.124 mg/m³ or below. This is a common baseline grade.
  • E0: 0.050 mg/m³ or below. This gives lower emissions than E1.
  • ENF: 0.025 mg/m³ or below. This is the lowest tier in this grading system.

SE0, or Super E0, sits above standard E0. It is commonly specified using a desiccator test, where the limit is 0.3 mg/L or below.

A note on comparing grades: standards use different test methods and units. Because of this, a mg/L figure cannot be compared directly with a mg/m³ figure. Therefore, when you choose any board, ask for the test report showing the standard and test method.

Our Highlights: SE0 MFC and ENF MFP

Two materials took centre stage at the rack.

  • Our MFC is SE0. This gives homeowners a Super E0 option for shelves and storage areas throughout the home.
  • Our MFP is ENF. This is the lowest-emission tier among our displayed boards, and it suits bedrooms, wardrobes, nurseries and study rooms where homeowners spend long hours.

If you read our April article, you may remember the Super E0 and F4 Stars options we introduced then. This October rack extends that direction by setting E0 as our minimum across the whole display.

New: Wood Veneer

Wood veneer is a material Nest Butler recently took on, and HOMEDEC was the first time visitors could see and touch it at our booth.

Veneer offers the look and grain of natural wood, which many homeowners prefer for doors, wardrobe fronts and feature panels. However, veneer is only a surface layer over a board core, so the board grade behind it still matters. For this reason, our veneer range follows the same E0-and-above rule as the rest of the rack.

The Red Kitchen in HOMEDEC Oct

A red kitchen took centre stage at this year’s booth, showing how colour, stone and cabinetry finishes work together.

Rosso Levanto Sintered Stone Countertop

The countertop is finished in Rosso Levanto sintered stone. The name comes from a natural marble known for its deep burgundy base and white veining, and our sintered stone surface brings that dramatic red palette into a kitchen-ready material.

Sintered stone is an engineered surface made for everyday kitchen use, and all stone displayed at our booth is E0 grade.

We paired two Top Mix finishes to give the kitchen depth and contrast.

  • Wall units: Top Mix TS8-1288, finish name VM Vine.
  • Base units: Top Mix TP6-3826, finish name SE Black Wood.
  • Countertop: Rosso Levanto sintered stone.

The VM Vine wall units have a matte, terracotta-red finish that looks warm under the booth lighting. The SE Black Wood base units are a dark charcoal-black with a subtle texture. They give the kitchen a grounded look.

Red wall units above dark base units create a strong contrast. The Rosso Levanto sintered stone ties the two together as the focal point. The same red-brown stone runs up as the backsplash behind the hob and hood [confirm same stone]. The red tones flow across the whole kitchen. Both sets of units are handleless, with clean, flat fronts. The wall units have softly curved ends that echo our signature curved details.

Finally, homeowners can quote these codes during consultation to request this combination at home.

BLUM Lift-Up and Drawer Systems

BLUM hardware featured in most cabinets at the booth, so visitors could open, lift and pull each one themselves.

  • Lift system (AVENTOS HL top): the one-part cabinet front lifts up parallel to the cabinet, leaving the wall unit open and easy to reach.
  • Drawer system (MERIVOBOX): a few MERIVOBOX drawers were on display so visitors could feel the smooth glide for themselves.
  • Inner organisation (AMBIA-LINE): accessories that divide and organise the inside of the drawers.

The AVENTOS range includes several models for different cabinet sizes and door types, such as bi-fold, up-and-over, parallel lift and stay-lift options. At our booth, we displayed the AVENTOS HL top lift-up system, a few MERIVOBOX drawer systems and AMBIA-LINE accessories.

We also visited BLUM’s new APAC office earlier this year. Read more in BLUM APAC Office Grand Opening.

Open Concept Wardrobe Display

Our April booth had no wardrobe showcase, so the open concept wardrobe was one of the biggest additions this time.

An open concept wardrobe skips the closed sliding or swing doors and puts clothing, shoes and accessories on open shelves, rails and drawers. It feels like a walk-in boutique, and homeowners can see everything at a glance.

Visitors stepped inside to check the layout, the storage proportions and how open and closed storage work together.

Because an open wardrobe exposes the interior, material quality is easy to see and the board grade matters even more. This is why the display used materials from our E0-and-above rack.

HOMEDEC Special: Henley and Pauline Share Their Experiences

We were glad to have Henley and Pauline at the booth to share their experiences with Nest Butler. Henley and Pauline are a Malaysian actor and actress couple who recently engaged Nest Butler for the carpentry work in their new home, and we are now in collaboration with them.

Hearing from a client directly gave visitors a real-world view of what working with Nest Butler is like, beyond what a display can show.

When they shared why they chose Nest Butler, Henley and Pauline pointed to three things: the quality of our work, our workmanship, and how fast we delivered. We are grateful for their trust as we work on their new home.

We also went live on our Instagram during HOMEDEC, so followers who could not make it to KLCC could still join us at the booth.

Final Thoughts

HOMEDEC October 2026 let us show how much our range has grown since April: a stricter material standard, a bold red kitchen, BLUM hardware that visitors could test by hand, and our open concept wardrobe.

A good cabinet should look right, work smoothly and be made from materials chosen with long-term living in mind. We believe all three belong together.

Thank you to everyone who visited our booth, spoke with our team and shared this experience with us, and a special thank you to Henley and Pauline.
